Newcastle University Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarships

Newcastle University is delighted to offer its Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarships (VCES) to outstanding and eligible international students who which to enrol in a degree program at the University commencing for 2024/25 academic session.

Newcastle University offers a number of scholarships awards each year to assist high calibre international students to study for an undergraduate degree. The awards will be credited to the student’s fee account to reduce the overall cost of tuition fees.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarships, applicants must fulfil the following:

  • Postgraduate taught and research degree applicants
  • Medicine MB BS, Dental Surgery BDS and Oral and Dental Health Sciences applicants
  • Applicants applying through Clearing
  • Study abroad and exchange students
  • Current, registered students at the university who have already commenced their undergraduate degree at the time of the award. Awards cannot be made retrospectively
  • Applicants initially assessed as international for fee purposes but whose fees change to “home”
  • Scholarships are renewable annually and will be subject to academic progression
  • 2024/25 awards cannot be deferred until the 2025/26 academic year.
  • To be considered for awards applicants must have or expect to a minimum of ABB at A level or equivalent. The applicants chosen to receive the awards will be assessed according to evidence of academic ability, evidence of commitment to studies and quality of application and may be contacted for additional information.

Application Procedures

How-to-Apply: An applicant can only apply and be considered for a scholarship after they have been offered a place to study on their chosen eligible full-time undergraduate degree programme at the University’s Newcastle city centre campus for the 2024/25 academic year and have been assessed as international for fees purposes.

The University awards Scholarships on the basis of academic merit and other information provided on the Scholarship application form.
